Today's news and views

YouTube and Major League Soccer team up for strategic content and advertising partnership MLS and YouTube have "announced a strategic content and advertising partnership that will see MLS game and featured highlights uploaded on a dedicated channel, www.youtube.com/mls". Considering the popularity of YouTube, this is good news for MLS.

Drew Carey to Play U.S. Soccer Stars in FIFA 07 Drew Carey v. Landon Donovan. Should be interesting.

Lalas, Galaxy make plans to juggle Beckham's schedule "Galaxy president and general manager Alexi Lalas already has tripped the sensitive wires of the English media with an offhand comment in a BBC radio interview. Lalas said he's thrilled to see Beckham get a call back to the English national team but hopes he'll be called for "appropriate" or "competitive" games." And this is news because...? Love him or hate him, Lalas has a hard-earned reputation for being, shall we say, rather blunt when it comes to airing his thoughts and opinions. Glad to see you are posting often again. I am a Crew fan in Columbus, and I enjoyed your blog last MLS season.

Interesting link to the Beckham article. A lot of media attention has focused on whether Beckham will bring American attantion to the MLS. I have been fascinated by how his transfer has attracted so much European attention to the MLS.
I wonder haw watching Beckham's transition will affect British and continental perspectives about the MLS.

The Crew preview mentions Herron's homecoming in Chicago, but injury list has him as doubtful. Wonder which is correct.

I'm glad you enjoy my blog, and thank you for the comment.

I, too, am curious about whether the European views of MLS will change once Beckham is here and playing. Given the European Internet coverage to date of the Beckham move, I imagine that European fans will gain more exposure to the level of playing in MLS. Whether that will change their perceptions is yet to be seen.

I didn't even think about Herron's injury until you mentioned it, but you're absolutely right. Both the preview and the injury list were updated on the same day.
